Allergy testing, round four.

Yesterday Harper had a review at the children's, because of the amount of allergies he has, he is reviewed every six months.

I held his arms down tight as he screamed and cried. They pricked him 16 times, what goes through a babies mind when there being hurt and the person they trust and love is letting it happen.

It took all my strength not to break down and bawl my eyes out. It broke my heart.

Overall I feel we got a good result, because there is a chance he has outgrown the potato allergy, the next step is having a food challenge. We have to spend the day in hospital and they feed him small amounts of potato throughout the day.

The results for Egg, Milk and Nuts had all got even worse.

But still if he could eat potato it would open so many new foods for us, potato starch is in everything. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

  1. Oh Kristy that sounds terrible! Unfortunately it's a necessary evil. Having his allergies be so bad must be a great stress on you and your family. I hope it will get easier as he grows. Hopefully you can possibly soon mark one off the list. Kat

  2. The poor baby! My oldest son had to be tested when he was about 2 yrs old. He had a reaction to the testing and had to be rushed to the hospital, but was fine. It was very stressful when I had to leave him at daycare so I could work. I would come in to get him and a different teacher I didn't know would be in the room with him. I would ask if they knew about his allergy and they would say, "no". He is 16 now and no longer takes medicine and eats whatever he wants. Hopefully your son will outgrow his allergies too.
